The Most Rev. Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini
Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda and Bishop of Kigali

Archbishop Emmanuel M. Kolini was born in the Congo during the year 1945. From
1952- 1963 he attended both primary and secondary level education, then in 1967
he studied at bible school in preparation for his ordination in 1969. From
1975-76 he attended Bishop Tucker College in Mukono, Uganda, currently known as
Uganda Christian University.
For a time he served as a primary teacher and later as Headmaster in some of
the refugee schools in Bunyoro- Uganda. From 1969- 1980 he was a parish priest
in Bunyoro- Kitara. Kolini was appointed Assistant Bishop of Bukavu in Congo
during the years 1981-86. From 1986 - 1996 he served as a full Bishop in the
Diocese of Katanga in the south eastern part of the Democratic Republic of
Congo. In the mid-90s he studied for and received a diploma in Theology at
Virginia Theological Seminary in the USA. In addition, he attended a leadership
course in Singapore and other several short courses in development and
community studies in Kenya. Emmanuel Kolini became Archbishop of Rwanda as well
as Bishop of Kigali Diocese in 1997.
His goals for the Province under his care are as follows:
- To preach and teach the people of God in a bid to make them grow in maturity
and in number.
- To carry out evangelization that promotes good relationship with God and with
one another so as to unite hearts and efforts to build the Church and the
Nation.
- To ensure a healing Ministry in the wounded society of Rwanda affected by the
1994 Genocide.
- To open gates for reconciliation among the Rwandans due to what happened in
1994.
- To ensure spiritual empowerment of the leadership.
- To nurture Christians into discipleship and equip them socially, physically and
spiritually.
- To enable homes and families to adequately raise and care for the children and
the youth with values that will prepare them to be responsible citizens of
tomorrow.
- To empower home and family because a poor home and family life affects both the
Church and the Nation.
- To strengthen education that would help to combat ignorance among the
population.

The Right Rev. Chuck Murphy

Chuck served as Rector of All Saints Church, Pawleys Island, SC for over 20
years, and was the one who convened and later chaired the First Promise
Movement that led to the formation of AMiA. Bishop Murphy graduated from the
University of Alabama, then studied under Dr. J.I. Packer of Trinity College in
England before completing his theological training at the University of the
South. He served several Episcopal congregations before being called to All
Saints in 1982. Murphy has led Vestry Workshops, Leadership Training
Conferences, and has taught on many subjects throughout the U.S. Murphy
is the son, brother and brother-in-law of Episcopal priests. He and his wife
Margaret have been married for over 30 years and they have three grown
daughters.
